To start, here's an Appalachian variant of the ancient ballad 'The Two Sisters'.
I learned this from the singing of the great blind ballad singer Horton Barker,
from St. Clairs Creek, VA - a beautiful area in Southwest Virginia which I pass
through quite often on the way to my mountain home in Ashe Co., NC.
That's Mr. Frederick Boyce, of Patrick Co., VA, & Charlottesville's longstanding
PRISM COFFEEHOUSE fame, picking some fine banjo.
T'was recorded at Les & Steph Thompson's beautifully situated & secluded
CABIN STUDIOS in Loudoun Co., VA, where I'm working on my new project,
BIRD ON A BRIAR. Les is a founding member of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
I'll be offering more free downloads. some, exclusive experimental
kitchen recordings & demos, will only be available here.
